![]() I have on occasion set up a shared folder with an outside client who accidentally saved some things in our folder he must had meant to go to a private folder, talk about freaking awkward. I think Dropbox works great if you've got a system worked out, especially if you're working with regulars. My rig computer stays running all the time in case someone decides to upload something to me.įor clients outside the usual's I'll use the we transfer thing sometimes, but most people have dropbox so I'll just do the same thing with them. There is also a "Trash" folder usually in there so when either one of us is done we put it in that folder, let's one or the other know it's cool to wipe off. Then I just toss that master folder into our shared folder and I'm done. Mixes I create a master folder with sub folders of the mix, TV tracks and quick ref. If I'm editing a project I'll export directly into it so while it's exporting it's also uploading. I have a shared folders with producers and songwriters and I've never had any issues. At that point there is a complete disconnect between project/sender and the file. It is a horrible user experience for me because I might get 10 of them in one week, reflexively download on receipt because of the vanishing links, and then find 10 alphanumerically named, multi gigabyte zip files in my DL folder a week later when the respective project is actually on my schedule. ![]() But I should clarify, I'm talking about being the recipient. But I'm not saying those products are perfect.ġ1:06:42 GMT -6 notneeson said:Yes, really. None of this happens to me with Google Drive, Dropbox, or Hightail. Often the forwarder is on another continent and we lose a day trying to get the file replaced. One in ten of these transfers might have an actual file name, at which point my only beef with wetransfer is the disappearing links- people forward them to me all the time on projects and they're already expired. I assume it is because the sender did not understand or complete the upload form, but it really sucks. So then, I can only figure out what's what by unzipping them which is time consuming and drives me nuts. ![]()
